Working in a kids hospital is tough. You see the worst things that nature can do to an innocent child and all you can do is apply your skills as a medical professional to try to make them better. Sometimes it works, and at others, you feel like a failure. It’s even harder when you’re working with terminally ill kids. That’s something that just shouldn’t be and it takes a certain kind of doctor.
Except, it’s not all bad. In fact, you’d be surprised to find out that terminally ill kids are the most positive and cheerful hospital patients out there, and that’s something that Dr. Alastair McAlpine, from Cape Town, South Africa is trying to prove.
